There and back again
I'm Nico Capriotti, an illustrative artist specializing in clean detailed line work, the human figure, and florals. Having a versatile portfolio, I love all tattoo ideas that are brought to me and I appreciate a challenge that pushes me to strengthen my artistic skills.
Like most tattoo artists, I’ve been drawing my entire life. From stick figures and copying manga, to realism and comics, I’ve always been on a journey to find my “style” while strengthening my artistic skills in all mediums.
In 2015 I collaborated with three fellow artists and we created Ditton Comics. A webcomic site where we create a variety of comics that showcase inclusivity and highlight that there is no “one right way” to draw comics. While I continue to collaborate with the other Dittons to create comic content, my passion for art continued to push me in a direction where I could connect with others and help bring their artistic visions to life.
In 2020 (while the world collapsed around us) I jumped in with both feet to begin tattoo school and graduate later that same year. The school I attended was also a studio where I was able to spend time honing both foundational practical, and business skills.
During 2022-2023 I owned a tattoo studio with two other artists, located in Forest Grove, called Kaiju Tattoo. I am so beyond proud of what we accomplished and created. Thanks to Kaiju, we showed clients and our community that tattoo shops can be not only free of judgment, but welcoming and safe.
In 2024 I’ve jumped even farther and gone further in creating Sugar and Spice along with two wonderful business partners. Our goal was to create a one stop shop that is inclusive in every way including increasing our scope of aesthetic services.
I have endless support and trust from every client I work with, and am deeply honored to be where I am today. I’m excited to continue this lifelong journey, to see where it brings me, and how I will grow from it. Most of all, I’m grateful for you as I would not be here without clients trusting me with their visions.
